The SN74LS74AN is a logic gate developed by Texas Instruments. It is a dual D-type positive-edge-triggered flip-flop integrated circuit (IC) that is widely used in digital electronic circuits.
This IC is specifically designed for applications where there is a need for two separate D-type flip-flops in a single package. It offers a wide range of operating voltage, from 4.75V to 5.25V, making it compatible with most common electronic devices.
The SN74LS74AN follows a positive-edge-triggered design, which means the flip-flops are triggered by the rising edge of the clock signal. It has two independent sections, each comprising of a D flip-flop with set and reset inputs. These sections can operate entirely independently or be used in conjunction to create more complex sequential logic circuits.
The device also features complement outputs (QÌ… and QÌ…Ì…) for each flip-flop. The QÌ… output is the inverse of the Q output, and the QÌ…Ì… output is the inverse of the QÌ… output. This characteristic enables flexible circuit design, allowing for the creation of complex logic functions.
