Source genuine Danfoss parts for VLT and VACON industrial drives here. We do not stock Danfoss heating, boiler, thermostat, refrigeration, compressor, burner, solenoid valve, or hydraulic products on this page. If your VLT or VACON drive has failed on a line, this is the right page. We are an independent specialist supplier with over 300,000 new, refurbished, and obsolete parts in our network and more than 12 years of experience sourcing drive components for maintenance teams.
We supply complete VLT and VACON units, along with control cards, power cards, cooling fans, LCP control panels, and option cards. If your part is not Danfoss-branded, our wider Inverter Drives category covers the equivalent ranges from other manufacturers.
We work on an enquiry basis rather than a checkout. Add the part you need to your Enquiry List, or send us the drive type code, and we will confirm availability, condition options, and lead time.
Danfoss VLT and VACON Drives Explained
A Danfoss VLT is a low-voltage AC variable frequency drive that controls motor speed and torque by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the motor. VLT is the drive line of Danfoss Drives, the business unit of Danfoss A/S in Nordborg, Denmark. VACON joined the group in 2015 and is now sold alongside VLT as a sister brand.
VFD, inverter drive, AC drive, and frequency converter all describe the same type of hardware. Typical duties include pumps, fans, conveyors, extruders, mixers, HVAC plant, and water or wastewater treatment.
Danfoss VLT Drive Ranges We Supply
We source the full VLT and VACON line, current and legacy. Match the series printed on your nameplate to the list below:
- VLT AutomationDrive FC 301 and FC 302 – general machinery and process control. The FC 302 adds closed-loop control, advanced motor control, and integrated safety.
- VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 – building services fans, pumps, and air handling units.
- VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 – clean water, wastewater, and pump protection duties.
- VLT Micro Drive FC 51 – compact, panel-mounted basic speed control.
- VLT Midi Drive FC 280 – mid-range machinery drive sitting between the Micro Drive and AutomationDrive footprints.
- VLT 2800, VLT 5000, and VLT 6000 – legacy series still running on installed plant across the UK.
- VACON NXP, NXS, and 100 series – VACON spare parts and complete units, sourced and repaired through the same network.
To quote accurately, we need the nameplate type code, the kW rating, and the supply voltage. The type code carries the enclosure rating, brake option, mains filter, and option card configuration, so the kW rating alone is rarely enough.
Danfoss Drive Parts, Modules, and Accessories We Source
Most breakdowns do not need a whole drive. We supply component-level Danfoss spare parts as well as complete units, including:
- Complete replacement drives in new, refurbished, and obsolete condition
- Control cards and power cards for FC 301, FC 302, and VLT 5000 frames
- IGBT power modules, DC link capacitors, and rectifier assemblies
- Heatsink cooling fans, internal fans, and complete fan trays
- LCP control panels, keypads, and blanking covers
- Fieldbus and option cards, including PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and encoder feedback
- Line filters, brake resistors, and mounting kits
Every part number is matched against the drive’s type code and serial number before we quote, because card revisions and power sections change across production runs within the same series.
IP20 and IP54 Danfoss Drive Ratings
Order IP20 when the drive sits inside a control cabinet and the enclosure provides dust and moisture protection. Order IP54 or IP55 when the drive is mounted in an open plant, a dusty area, or a wash-down environment with no separate cabinet. Under IEC 60529, the first digit of the IP code rates protection against solid objects and the second rates protection against water ingress.
The same FC 302 kW rating is available in several enclosure ratings and frame sizes, with different dimensions and cable entries, so swapping ratings is not always a drop-in change. If the nameplate is worn or oil-stained, send us a photograph, and we will read the type code from it.
Obsolete Danfoss VLT 2800, VLT 5000, and VLT 6000 Drives
The VLT 2800, VLT 5000, and VLT 6000 are end-of-life and out of production, which closes the authorised distribution route but does not stop these drives from being supported. Danfoss maintains lifecycle and retrofit support for its legacy drives, and each series has its own official successor: the VLT 2800 moves to the VLT Midi Drive FC 280, the VLT 5000 moves to the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302, and the VLT 6000 moves to the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102.
Replacing an obsolete drive like-for-like usually avoids re-engineering: the panel cut-out, control wiring, terminal layout, and parameter set stay as they are. Migration to a current series means new mounting, revised control terminations, and a fresh parameter build.
We work through a global network of specialists and repair centres to reach legacy stock, which gives you four realistic routes on an end-of-life drive: a sourced obsolete unit, a tested reconditioned unit, a repair of your existing drive, or a planned migration to the correct current VLT series.
Fixed-Price Danfoss Drive Repairs and Reconditioned Units
We offer fixed-price repairs on a no-fix, no-fee basis, so you know the cost before the unit leaves the site and pay nothing if the drive cannot be returned to service. Reconditioned units are tested before despatch and supplied with a 12-month warranty, extendable on request. On breakdown orders, we can arrange same-day courier where stock and carrier cut-off allow.
Common repair candidates include failed cooling fans and blocked heatsinks, DC link capacitor degradation on older frames, IGBT and power section failure, and persistent alarm or trip conditions on legacy VLT 2800, 5000, and 6000 units. Send the type code, serial number, any displayed fault codes, and a short note on the application.
Why Engineers Source Danfoss Parts from K2 Automation
Maintenance teams come to K2 Automation because we hold 300,000+ new, refurbished, and obsolete parts across our network, back them with 12+ years’ experience in industrial automation, and operate from UK, US, and German bases with matching repair centres. Standard cover is a 12-month warranty, extendable on request.
Where a Danfoss drive replacement sits alongside other panel work, we also supply AC/DC Drives & Servo Drives and Safety and General Automation parts, so a single enquiry can cover the drive, the safety relay, and the contactors.

Danfoss Parts: FAQs
Who makes Danfoss drives?
Danfoss drives are made by Danfoss A/S through its Danfoss Drives business unit, headquartered in Nordborg, Denmark. VACON, the Finnish drive manufacturer, has been part of the Danfoss group since 2015 and is sold alongside the VLT line.
Is the Danfoss VLT 5000 obsolete?
Yes. The VLT 5000 is end-of-life and out of production, so it is no longer available through authorised distribution. It remains widely installed on UK plants and is still supportable through obsolete stock, reconditioned units, and repair of the existing drive.
What is the replacement for the VLT 5000?
The VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 is the current-generation successor for most VLT 5000 applications. Expect differences in frame dimensions, control terminal layout, and parameter structure, so plan for panel modification and re-commissioning rather than a direct drop-in swap.
What is the difference between the Danfoss FC 51 and FC 302?
The FC 51 Micro Drive is a compact, lower-power unit for basic open-loop speed control. The FC 302 AutomationDrive covers higher power ratings and adds closed-loop motor control, encoder feedback, fieldbus and option card slots, and integrated safety functions.
Can K2 Automation supply or repair obsolete Danfoss VLT drives?
Yes. We source obsolete VLT and VACON stock through our global specialist network, supply tested reconditioned units with a 12-month warranty, and carry out fixed-price repairs on a no-fix, no-fee basis. Send the type code and serial number to start an enquiry.
