Hitachi inverter drives control the speed and torque of AC motors on machinery such as fans, pumps, and conveyors. K2 Automation supplies Hitachi AC inverter drives from the SJ, WJ, L300, and NE series, along with Hitachi PLC systems, servo drives, keypads, option cards, and expansion modules. Parts are available in new, refurbished, and obsolete condition, so you can keep an existing machine running or find a replacement for a discontinued drive.
Our global network of specialists helps us offer competitive prices and fast lead times, with same-day delivery where parts are available. Browse the range below, request a quote, or send us a part number.
Hitachi Inverter Drive Ranges We Supply
We supply Hitachi industrial inverter ranges from both the current line-up and series that were discontinued years ago. The families we handle most often are:
- SJ300 – legacy high-performance sensorless vector series in 200 V and 400 V classes, widely installed across UK plant and now end-of-life.
- SJ700 and SJ700D – the successor high-duty vector range, specified for hoists, winders, extruders, and heavy breakaway loads, and succeeded in turn by the SJ-P1 series in Hitachi’s current catalogue.
- SJ200 and J100 – compact general-purpose legacy drives still running conveyors, mixers, and pump sets on older machinery. J100 units make up a large share of our Hitachi stock.
- L300P – variable torque series built for fan and pump duty in larger kW ratings.
- WJ200 and WJ-C1 – the current compact general-purpose range with sensorless vector control and permanent magnet motor capability.
- NE-S1 and X200 – entry-level V/f drives for conveyors, pumps, and basic speed control, with the X200 now a legacy series superseded by the WJ200.
- Hitachi PLCs and servo equipment – CPU modules, I/O cards, power supplies, operator panels, keypads, and option cards.
Across these families, we handle 200 V single-phase and three-phase, and 400 V three-phase supply variants, with kW ratings ranging from sub-1 kW compact frames to the larger SJ300 and L300P chassis.
If you are specifying beyond Hitachi, our wider PLC Systems and AC/DC Drives & Servo Drives categories offer equivalent parts from other manufacturers, making a cross-brand solution the faster route.
Hitachi AC Inverter Drives and VFDs Explained
A Hitachi inverter is an AC variable frequency drive. It takes a fixed-frequency mains supply, rectifies it to DC, then inverts it back to AC at a controlled frequency and voltage to set the speed and torque of a three-phase induction or permanent magnet motor.
In an industrial context, inverter, VFD, variable frequency drive, variable speed drive, and frequency converter all describe the same product. Hitachi uses “inverter” in its own documentation; UK engineers often say “VFD” or “inverter drive”.
In service, a Hitachi inverter drive controls motor speed and direction, torque limits, acceleration and deceleration ramps, braking, and energy consumption for variable-torque loads such as fans and pumps. Control modes vary by family: entry-level NE-S1 and X200 drives use V/f control; WJ200 and SJ700 add sensorless vector control for higher starting torque; and the SJ series supports closed-loop vector control with an encoder feedback card for regulated speed and torque applications.
Obsolete Hitachi SJ300, L300P, and J100 Drives
The SJ300, L300P, SJ200, J100, and X200 families are end-of-life or in limited support, which means no new manufacturer supply and no guaranteed spares channel.
Our global network of specialists and repair centres lets us locate obsolete and discontinued Hitachi units as new old stock, tested refurbished items, or repairable cores. A like-for-like obsolete replacement is usually the lowest-risk option on a running machine: the existing parameter set transfers, the frame dimensions and mounting centres match, the terminal layout is unchanged, and there is no requalification of the control system or the OEM’s documentation.
Where a like-for-like unit genuinely cannot be found, the conversation turns to migration. Moving an SJ300 to an SJ700 class equivalent, or an L300P to a WJ200 or SJ700 of matching kW, changes frame dimensions, terminal arrangement, and the parameter structure, and option cards rarely carry across.
Encoder feedback, braking resistor sizing, and fieldbus modules all need to be checked against the new chassis. We scope that with you against the part number and application rather than treating it as a drop-in, and we will say when the economics favour a repair instead.
Repairs, Warranty, and Breakdown Delivery on Hitachi Parts
When a Hitachi inverter drive is discontinued, repair is often the practical answer. We offer fixed-price repairs on a no-fix, no-fee basis, so you know the cost before the unit is shipped and pay nothing if it cannot be returned to service. Refurbished and repaired Hitachi units are functionally tested before dispatch.
Everything we supply carries a 12-month warranty, extendable on request. For live breakdowns, we dispatch by same-day courier where the part and the cut-off time allow.
K2 Automation has 12+ years of experience in obsolete and hard-to-find automation supplies, with 300,000+ new, refurbished, and obsolete parts across the wider catalogue. Our UK office is at Schott House, Drummond Road, Stafford ST16 3EL, supported by group entities in Houston and Bremen for international supply and customs handling.
Hitachi Inverter: FAQs
Who makes Hitachi industrial inverters?
Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures Hitachi industrial inverter drives and automation products. It is a separate group company from Hitachi Energy’s power conversion business and from Hitachi air conditioning, which is why a search for “Hitachi inverter” returns results from 3 unrelated product categories.
Is the Hitachi SJ300 still available?
The SJ300 is no longer in production and is not available through standard manufacturer supply. We source SJ300 units as obsolete new old stock and tested refurbished items, and we repair customer-owned drives on a fixed-price basis. Send us the full part number and kW rating, and we will confirm what is available.
What replaced the Hitachi SJ300?
The SJ700 and SJ700D series replaced the SJ300 as Hitachi’s high-performance vector range. The successor is not a mechanical drop-in: frame sizes, terminal layout, parameter numbering, and option cards differ, so an SJ300-to-SJ700 swap needs to be checked against the panel space, wiring, and application before it is committed.
What is the difference between the Hitachi SJ and WJ series?
The SJ series is the high-duty vector line, built for heavy overload, high starting torque, closed loop control with encoder feedback, and applications such as hoists and winders. The WJ series is a compact, general-purpose line for pumps, fans, and conveyors, featuring sensorless vector control and a smaller footprint. SJ drives carry the higher overload duty, WJ drives the lower cost and panel space.
Can K2 Automation supply or repair obsolete Hitachi drives?
Yes. We source obsolete and discontinued Hitachi inverter drives, PLC modules, and servo parts through our global network, and we repair units that cannot be replaced, at a fixed price on a no-fix, no-fee basis. All enquiries are quoted on availability, condition, and lead time.
Request a Quote for Hitachi Inverter Parts
Send us your Hitachi part number to get availability, lead time, and a quote. Add the Hitachi inverter drives, PLCs, or servo parts you need to your Enquiry List, or contact us directly. Quotes move fastest when you include the full part number from the rating label, the kW and voltage class, the machine or OEM it came from, and whether the line is currently down. We respond with availability, condition, lead time, and price, and we will tell you when a fixed-price repair is the better call than a replacement unit.
